Spring and cable wear signs
That gap matters on a service call. A house built in 1991 almost certainly came with a factory torsion spring setup rather than the older extension-spring or one-piece doors you'd find on 1960s and 70s stock elsewhere in the territory. If nobody's ever swapped the spring, it's the original: the same wire gauge, the same drum, the same 30-plus-year-old galvanizing that's now fatigued from three decades of daily cycles.
